Early Musical Family Years
As opposed to another Latin Pop music artists coming from Puerto Rico that grew up in Puerto Rico Jerry Rivera was not merely has been excited about the early artists but his mom and dad Edwin played the guitar along with Dominga sang. He probably listened to Tito Rojas who was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico in 1955 and was a salsa singing legend for many years. Moreover Jerry family members incorporated Edwin Rivera together with his sister Saned were recording personalities. His brothers Jose and Ito were professional instrumental performers. Which means that with regard to his whole childhood he was living with the impact of music. In 1986 he appeared along with his idol Frankie Ruiz in a picture which he subsequently used on an album cover.
His Music Life
He tend go along with his father and mother to their shows as a young child. His overall musical family inspired his own life towards music. His recording published in 2003 dedicated to Canto a mi idolo Frankie Ruiz contained that image taken at a hotel where Jerry Ruiz was performing on the cover. Jerry Ruiz was born in New York in 1958 and yet went to Puerto Rico in 1976. In 1986 he encountered Jerry Rivera. He passes away an early death because of substance abuse and finally AIDS. Even so he inspired Jerry in many ways.
An Early Singing Career
He first was heard by CBS in 1986. He was born Geraldo Rivera Rodriguez but uses Jerry Rivera as his artist name. His father made the demo that he then sent to CBS and CBS signed him on. After he released his first album Empezando a Vivir with Sony Studios in 1986 he picked up the nickname El Bebe de la Salsa loosely translated as the salsa baby but he is no longer referred to by that nickname as he has made a career of singing Latin salsa. This first album Empezando a Vivir contained the hit single song De La Cabeza A Los Pies. The Next Albums And Going Platinum His second album Abriendo Puertas contained not one but four hits that all went to number one in Puerto Rico, then with Hispanic listeners in the US and onto the rest of Latin America. His third album Cuenta Conmigo won three Platinum records Awards in Puerto Rico, US, Columbia and Venezuela.
